In this home cookery tutorial from TheDoubleYolker, chef Angie Morrissey shows us her personal take on an old classic, the recipe for Spaghetti Bolognese. A family-favorite, this dish can serve 4 – 6 people.

To start, Angie sears some chopped onions to take the bite out of of them, tossing in a cup of oregano and garlic mix for flavor. Next up is the minced beef, added in chunks by hand then spoon-stirred thoroughly to break up lumps, and flattened to allow browning.
The tomato paste is mixed in once the meat is brown, stirred as it simmers to add great taste and a smooth consistency, without burning. Once deep-red in colour, Worcestershire sauce is added to deglaze the pan and season the Bolognese with a peppery taste, as an alternative to commonly-used wine.
Lastly the tinned tomatoes and cups of water complete the sauce, before being allowed to simmer down on a medium-heat for thirty minutes while you prepare the spaghetti. If you didn’t catch it first time round, here’s the ingredients list one more time:
Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe:
- Vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons
- A medium onion, diced
- Garlic, 1 ½ tablespoons
- Oregano, 2 tablespoons
- Minced Beef, 500g
- Tomato paste, 1 cup
- Worcestershire sauce, ½ cup
- Tomatoes, 1 tin
- Water, 4 cups
- Pepper, spring onion & fresh parmesan cheese, by taste
